Thai Ridgeback puppies and dogs have courageous and independent temperaments. This is a strong, confident dog that should be provided with obedience training from a young puppy. Due to the independent temperament of this breed, training can sometimes be a little slow. The Thai Ridgeback is better owned by an experienced handler who will provide it with consistently firm but gentle training. Once this dog has received adequate training, it will be very loving and affectionate. This breed is very loyal, sociable and dedicated towards its family, and it has a naturally protective temperament and will be eager to guard and protect its family. This breed should be socialized heavily from a young puppy as it can sometimes become overly curious or suspicious of strangers. This is an alert and watchful dog with a bright personality. It makes a good guard dog and a nice family pet when trained accordingly.
