The Personality and Temperament of the Thai Ridgeback is confident and independent. This is a strong, bold dog that should be provided with obedience training from a young age. Due to the independent nature of the breed, training can sometimes be a little difficult. This breed is better owned by an experienced handler who will provide it with consistently firm but gentle training. Once this dog has received adequate training, it will be very loving and affectionate. This breed is very loyal, friendly and devoted towards its family, and it has a naturally protective temperament and will be eager to guard and protect his family. This breed should be socialized heavily from a young puppy as it can sometimes become overly curious or suspicious of strangers. This is an alert and watchful dog with a bright personality. It makes a good guard dog and a nice family pet when trained accordingly.
