| Personality and Temperament of the Shikoku The Personality and Temperament of the Shikoku is steady and even, particularly when provided with adequate obedience training from a young age and socialized heavily. These dogs tend to have a good understanding of people and are usually very good at judging characters fairly. This is an intelligent breed, and when compared to other Japanese dogs, they are far less independent which means that they are trainable with a little time and patience. This is a courageous and confident breed that has a naturally curious personality and temperament. The Shikoku loves its master and shows them a great deal of respect, affection and love. These dogs remain very loyal towards their owners and enjoy spending time with them. This breed is typically quiet around the house and doesn't cause a lot of fuss. However, this is an energetic breed that has to receive moderate amounts of daily exercise to keep it physically and mentally balanced. Shikokus that are not suitably exercised can begin to show signs of poor behavior. |
