The Personality and Temperament of the Saluki tends to be very independent. This dog was bred as an avid hunter, so although it may look fragile, it is in fact very strong and powerful. Its independent nature often means that the dog is easily distracted and this can make obedience training a little slow and difficult, but by no means impossible. Correctly trained Salukis will have even-balanced, calm and gentle temperaments making them fantastic family pets. They can be quite sensitive so training should be firm but gentle as they do not take well to harsh discipline. This is a sociable, kind and loving breed of puppy and dog that shows great enthusiasm and dedication. They are energetic and active so moderate to high amounts of daily exercise and activity should form part of their normal routine. Dogs and puppies tend to become very attached to one person in particular, often their master, to whom he will remain a very loyal companion.
