Dachshund puppies and dogs come with three different types of coats and two sizes. There are miniature and standards sizes with varying coats; short haired, wirehaired and long haired. The and amount of shedding and the grooming needs vary, depending on coat. Grooming requirements can be anything from daily to fortnightly. This breed requires a moderate amount of exercise so puppies and dogs should be taken for daily walks. The Dachshund is very playful so it's important to provide your puppy or dog with an area where they can do this and designate them some time on a daily basis. The personality and temperament of the Dachshund is very eager, enthusiastic, loving but a little stubborn.
