History and Origins of the Toy Fox TerrierThe History and Origins of the Toy Fox Terrier is really interesting. The history of the Toy Fox Terrier began in the United States of American, in the 1930s, when breeders wanted to create a smaller sized Terrier that would still possess the typical personality traits of the usual Terrier breeds. The American breeders achieved this through crossing the Smooth Fox Terriers with other toy breeds such as Manchester Terriers, Chihuahuas, Italian Greyhounds and Miniature Pinschers. This particular breed makes a great watchdog and companion as it is intelligent, bright and very trainable. It also her fantastic hunting abilities and is excellent at hunting tree squirrels and rodents. The Toy Fox Terrier was officially recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) in the year of 2003. This breed is also known by other names which include American Toy Terrier and Amertoy. The breed was given this name as it descended directly from the Smooth Fox Terrier but was miniaturized, producing the Toy Fox Terrier. |
