History and Origins of the Siberian HuskyThe History and Origins of the Siberian Husky is really interesting. This breed originated in Northeast Asia, in Siberia. The history of the Siberian Husky is though to have began off the eastern Siberian peninsula, where the breed is believed to have originated within the Chukchi Tribe. These agreeable and enthusiastic working dogs were used for sledding, watch dogs and herding reindeer in cold Siberian weather conditions. The main breeding purpose of the Siberian Husky was to work as a sled dog; this breed travels quickly and can carry light loads over very long distances; having the stamina to enable the dog to work for long periods of time. The Siberian Husky has great strength, power, stamina, endurance and enthusiasm. The speed and endurance of this dog was recognized and it was used in the All-Alaskan Sweepstakes where it took part in an 408 mile arctic race in 1908. |
