They are eager to please their owners and they show extreme loyalty towards them. This is a delightful and happy breed of dog that has a fun-loving and spirited personality and temperament. Puppies and dogs from this breed make lively little companions that show their family a great deal of love and affection. The Shih Tzu has a cute appearance and a sweet character making it a very popular family pet. Dogs and puppies are not shy and they tend to like everybody around them. They are sociable and give everybody they meet, a friendly warm welcome. This is a gentle dog with a bright, even-temperament, but it does have enough confidence to defend itself when it needs to.
