History and Origins of the Miniature Bull TerrierThe History and Origins of the Miniature Bull Terrier is really interesting. The history of the Bull Terrier began back in the early 19th century in England, Great Britain. The English breeders required a dog with a courageous personality that could be used for sporting games including fighting. They produced the breed by crossing the Bulldog with the White English Terrier. However, this particular breed didn't quite meet their expectations as it wasn't big enough, and so in the 1860s the breed was redefined by an English man known as James Hinks. He produced the Standard Bull Terrier that is predominantly white and it was, at the time, nicknamed 'the White Cavalier.' The dog has since became a popular family pet. It is an energetic and stubborn breed that requires firm obedience training. The American Kennel Club formally recognised the Miniature Bull Terrier in the year of 1991. |
