History and Origins of the Doberman PinscherThe History and Origins of the Doberman Pinscher is really interesting. The history of the Doberman Pinscher is thought to have began in Germany in the late 1800s. The name Doberman originates from a tax collector known as Karl Frederich Louis Dobermann of Apolda. This particular man required a dog that would be a natural guardian and a loyal companion. The word Pinscher refers to a breed of dog whose ears and tail are normally cropped. It is believed that the development of the Doberman Pinscher was created by crossing old short haired shepherds such as German Pinschers, Beaucerons and Rottweilers. Dobermann successfully created an even-tempered dog that has determination, courage, strength, stamina and dedication. The first dog show attended by this particular breed was in the year of 1876. The American Kennel Club formally recognized the breed in 1908. The Doberman Pinscher is also referred to as the Dobe. |
