History and Origins of the BorzoiThe History and Origins of the Borzoi is really interesting. The history of the Borzoi began in Russia when breeders decided that they wanted a dog that was capable of hunting wolves and other smaller animals such as fox. They achieved this by creating this large breed of dog that would chase anything at any given opportunity. This breed is very different in its ways compared to others as it hunts by sight as opposed to scent. This observant and independent dog was perfect for the job and it was known as the Russian Wolfhound. Breeders created the Borzoi by crossing a Russian breed of god with Arabian greyhounds. This breed was formally recognised by the American Kennel Club in 1891, and it is listed under the Hound Group of dogs. This breed of puppy and dog is very dignified and in actual fact, make very good house pets as they are affectionate, loving and do not require to much time or attention from their owners. |
