History and Origins of the Border Collie
The History and Origins of the Border Collie began in Northumberland. This breed originated more than one hundred years ago in an area between the border of England and Scotland; hence the name of the breed 'Border Collie'. This is one of the most competitive breeds, and it has very high levels of endurance and intelligence, as well as an immense amount of energy and dedication. These dogs have fantastic working abilities and they were used to help farmers herd and guard animals. In this day and age, they are still often the chosen dog for herding, and they are also very popular throughout homes as family pets. This breed has a weatherproof coat that helps to protect it whilst working during poor weather conditions. |
