History and Origins of the American Eskimo DogThe History and Origins of the American Eskimo Dog is really interesting, and the history of the American Eskimo Dog doesn't actually have anything to do with Eskimos at all! This particular dog was originally bred in America from breeds of Spitz dogs from different parts of Europe. Some of the breeds that the American Eskimo were originally bred from include; the German Spitz, and the Italian Spitz. Breeds such as the white Pomeranian and the white Keeshond were also used to create this dog. This is an intelligent breed of dog, and its skill levels gives it agility. Back in the 19th Century, in America, this dog was actually used to perform tricks in the circus. Although, it was originally bred to guard, and for this reason, this breed is protective and alert, making them particularly good watchdogs. They also have a protective nature and their loyalties lie with their owners for which they are eager and willing to please! | |
