This breed is naturally very protective and wants to look after and care for its family. The Standard Schnauzer has a friendly, loving and affectionate personality which makes it an excellent family pet when it is provided with the right training and an owner who is able to treat it in a firm yet gentle manner, and provide it with consistent training. This breed is athletic and energetic so regular daily exercise should form part of its normal routine.
